Heya,
I currently bought a new system as I'm giving my girlfriend my current one. Everything in this new one I'm buying is a lot better than my current, just I'm not sure which graphics card to keep?

Here's what I've bought:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
4096MB Corsair DDR II Memory
500GB SATA II Seagate
nVidia GeForce 8500GT 1024MB

Would a 8800 GTS with 320MB VRAM work out better for games such as Oblivion and Call of Duty 4? Or would the 8500 GT with 1024MB VRAM give better, worse or more or less the same frame rate and quality results?

Thanks for any help. :D

LOL, 8500gt is nothing compared to 8800gts 320mb.
Get the latter but 8800gs or 9600gt is cheaper, get one of these two.
These three cards are in almost same tier with last one being best.

I just wonder why not 9600GT 512MB or 8800GT 512MB as these 2 are around the budget of 8800GTS 320M and outperform 8800GTS 320M

Why would you put racing stripes and spinning rims on a primer gray 1986 Ford Aerostar? Cause it's cool! ;)

HAHAHA! YEAH I HAVE 1GB of video memory man! My monitor is an ol 15" 800x600 4" thick LCD from 2000 though. But it has Stripes.

To the OP, The obvious choice is keep the 8800GTS 320M. Depending on what res you are looking to play at the GTS will last you till the end of the year maybe. The 8500GT is NOT a gaming card at all. the 8600's are sort not gaming cards but more multimedia cards that can pull off some games, but deffinitly not an 8500.

COD4 scales EXTREMELY well. You won't be able to max out on certain resolutions but you should be able to turn up some of the warm fuzzies. My x1900xtx played at 1680x1050 with most things on mediumish settings, and your's should slightly outperform that. Oblivion will be mediumish as well.
