I could get either off newegg for $139 after a rebate.

Sapphire HD3870 512mb

or

XFX GeForce 8800GT 512mb (With a Zalman Cooler)

I got the charts to load, and the 8800 is showing a significant lead over the 3870 in overall performance. Is this true? I thought they were closer.

8800gt. I think even the 9600gt beats the 3870 in a lot of things, and the 9600gt has about 15-20% worse performance than the 8800gt if I'm not mistaken.

Im leaning toward it too, especially because Ive got an nForce 570 SLI board (though I doubt I'll SLI with 2x8 PCI-E)
