Samsung speedplus 22x reader/writer running veery slow!

I built a gaming system recently, with this dvd writer/reader- http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682...
My CPU is an AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
However whenever i install a game, it takes forever! On my old pc, whose CD/DVD reader/writer is inferior now, i always saw the small description of what specific file is being installed move and change extremely fast. With this new DVD drive, i actually have time to read each description of what file it is looking at. How do i fix this?
