Hi! I have build 9 computers with the same configuration as mention above. This problem is happening with all the computers. when I plug anything into the front usb sometimes the monitor signal from the pc get turned off ( This happen at least 1 out of 3 times). Even though the moniter lose signal the the Computer is still running. I have to do a Hard boot to get it going. The back USB ports work fine.
I have tried contacting Gigabyte they are saying they can't recreate the issue. I have tried changing the front USB headers and see if it make any difference. But I end up with the same problem.
I have updated the chip set drivers with the latest release from intel. And I can't find any solution up to now.
Well this happens even when I plug in a normal USB flash drive as well. And also it happens with external powered one as well. I think it is a issue with the USB not getting grounded properly.
HI, I think you have come to the same thought as me. I think the earth is floating with respect to the case and with the quality of the cable ( Possibly not screened ) the signal lines are probably getting some sort of electrostatic charge which is corupting the USB input and locking the computer up. I am using an ABIT case, not expensive, and the whole plug and socket assembly is mounted to the plastic front so it is a long way from the earth on the mobo.
I have another 2 USB sockets on a metal plate on the back and have no problems with them.
Good luck...
