Some Days.....

Some days you're the windshield, some days
you're the bug.
Today I'm the bug. Ow.

My back went kablooie again, and I can barely
move. Oh bloody hell, let me get some more aspirins....

I swear- I didn't lift anything! I've been *so* good
about bending, lifting, and I didn't even grab a broom.
And Ross is in Phoenix today, so all the fur & feathered
babies are in the care of a ditzy near-invalid. :eek:}

Days like this, I can't imagine making it to my 60th
birthday. Worse maybe is that I probably will! Only the
good die young, eh? :eek:þ

Tell me about it. I was assigned to a 2-tiller-plus-back-office yesterday.
A simple job.

Well, it would've been if all the PC's were of the same age. It would've
been a whole lot simpler if I hadn't been assigned kit that wasn't
designed to work with the older hardware in the first place as well.

.... oh, along with that I was running off two seperate years of
instructions... 2003 for the tills, 2005 for the back office. Neither set
of instructions tallied, so my head was cabbaged with the patching
together that was going on.

And the site had to go out tonight.

One more "15 minutes deadline" job.

That made my head hurt just reading about it. One cool thing
about the casinos is that they don't scrimp on upgrading equipment.
When they need a new POS for the restaurant, they replace ALL
in one day. Made Ross' job that much easier, except for the
training end.

Aw, thanks. The second batch of aspirins is helping.
I swear, in this day and age, you'd think we could get
replacement parts for *us* when we need them.

LOL Just 2, four hours apart. The word "batch" was the
only thing that popped into my head.

No truer words exist! Too many heavy cases of food
were lifted by yours truly in years past. Often from walk-in
or freezer floors. I had *no* business hefting 86-pound cases
of beef. Let's see, that's about 40 kilos, give or take.

Smooooooooooooth. Nice save, that. LOL

Now, now. You shouldn't speak of Ross like that. ;) ;)

I didn't know I could lift that much but stephusband has me help him carry
stuff from the hardware store, and the bags of sand and concrete are marked
as 90 pounds. I'd have no hope of *bending* to pick that up, but I can lift
that much from the knees. So I'm safe from hurting myself on the really
heavy stuff.

Speaking of heavy stuff, Friday the riggers came and brought our machine
tools into the shop so we should be making stuff soon! I'll post some
photos later. I didn't stay for the whole operation but I got some shots of
the Big Box getting lifted off the truck by two forklifts.

Oh neato!! Take lots of pics, as I'm very curious, and
will probably ask way too many questions! : D

Ask away!

http://home.sewingwitch.com:8000/Camera/20050606/

Initial shots are of all the machines we had packed in a storage room
awaiting completion of construction. The new machine arrives and is
installed. I left and they installed the rest. I came in the next day and
shot photos of them in place and of the mostly-empty room where the first
ones were stored. We still have to run power and air and then do final
assembly and setup. More photos then.

The floor is epoxy over 18" of concrete. The biggest machine weighs 3
metric tons.

That's the grinder, for polishing big finished pieces precisely flat. The
grey paint is ugly but I love the purple face plate on the control console.
Kinda looks like an arcade console. Alas, I didn't get any close-ups of the
control panels on the newer machines. You can kinda see the one on the
green-and-white Nakamura.
