I need a new monitor, I want to get one one that's going to last for a long time. Anyone have any recommendations on a monitor brand/model that will last for years and years?
If not, do you know what the usual longevity of a monitor is?
That 19" Planar PX191 cost me $650 which was considered rather expensive back then. I upgrade to a 26" NEC LCD2690WUXi last November which is even more expensive.

You can't go wrong with Samsung.. but the warranty that came with it is only for 2 years. I've been having this 22" for a good year now and i haven't had a single problem with it either. *crosses fingers*
You might consider a Philips monitor as well. I've had mine for three years now, 19", no problem so far. Philips comes with a 3 year warranty (at least mine did). They also use to have their zero faulty pixel return policy as far as I remember. You can check what it say here http://www.philipschannel.com/moni [...] policy.pdf

Yeah, Planar used to have a zero faulty pixel return policy (only for the more expensive monitors like my PX191). It was stated on their website. Sadly, they don't offer this policy anymore.
However, based on reading some customer reviews about Planar about 1.5 years ago, Planar still seems to have an "undisclosed" zero dead pixel policy. But it had to be around the center of the monitor and you need to be somewhat persuasive.

Viewsonic were awesome when they were making CRT but LCD has gone down in quality. Perhaps CRT just last longer than LCD. My LCD is acting up. It's not even 2 years old.
