Hard disks

I have a pentium 4 running windows xp. There are two WD 250's set up in a raid 1 array on a ide raid card. I want to add a 1 TB sata internal drive for storage of images. The asus mb supports the sata connection and a recent sata dvd drive works fine but it will not boot if i power up the drive. Can i make it work without jepordizing my current data?

Yes... what's your power supply? It's possible your drive isn't powering on because there's not enough juice.

In any case, before you try anything further, back up everything please.

My desktop consists of a P4, Intel 775, Asus P5P800-SE with 3GB of corsair memory, ultra 600W power supply, Rocket Raid 100, 2 WD 250's, GE6600, Dell 2209WA,2 dvd drives, card reader.
