That's pretty warm, but remember that you are applying artificially high loads which would never normally be possible in real world use (except things like Folding@Home). 4 cores at near 100% load is going to cause some serious heat output. How much and in what way did you apply the thermal paste? Did you remove any plastic films on the heatsink base which may be there to prevent dust and scratches during shipping?

45nm heat temp sensor problem? Stick you hand on the cooler, if it burns I'm right, if its cool I'm wrong. Alternativly you could just buy a heat sensor separately. There's no way a Q9300 should be that hot. Check your airflow before you send that RMA tho...

Ah forgot about that problem. Although it is usually more inaccurate at lower temps otherwise it is stuck altogether.

yup but there was another one...

Artic silver is going to help, but only 5 to 7 degrees. Think about getting a diffrent cooler after you switch out your paste and see how it runs. Another thing to keep in mind, those copper tubes arent just hollow, there filled with a inert gas, and yours might not have gotten sealed right. If thats the case its going to effect heat transfer.
