Hi just curious to know whether anyone can you get a FSB with a 128 bit buswidth (as opposed to 64) for a Q9550 cpu?

I'm pretty sure the processor wouldn't know what to do if you gave it 128bit bus.

I'm also pretty sure such items don't exist...

Maybe you make reference to the dual channel memory access (2 x 64bits)

In that case you will get a small increase of performance (like 3-5%)

the skulltrail platform uses 128bit bus because of its quad-channel memory

Hi all, thanks for that - some of the most clear and simple feedback I've had from this forum, one more thing though,

Do mobo's typically have 64 bit fsb buswidths? I've read that having the double channels helps with bottlenecks between the cpu and ram and so definately want at least 64 bit fsb (128 maybe no piont from what everyone's said)
