I had 1 3850 and just bought another one today. I am running Vista 64 with 8 g ram. Initially I uninstalled the drivers and CCC. I put in the second card, put in the power and bridge and reinstalled the software. I checked off the Crossfire option in CCC and I got the black screen. This has been discussed in previous forums but I thought the problem had been corrected with windows and their hotfixes. So after some dinkering around, removing ram, installing the latest software from the website instead of from disk etc it seemed to install property. However I dont know if it is really working. I logged into my game, Age of Conan and there was absolutly no change in FPS and I was not able to run the settings any higher than when I had 1 card.
There are some other odd things, When I installed the CCC from the website, the checkbox Enable CrossFireX is automatically checked. However it is only displaying 1 card in the Graphics Adapter. ATI radeon HD 3800 Series. Whereas when I use the older CCC it will display 2 cards, I have to manually check the Enable CrossFire X box and then it explodes.
I guess my question is, if the Enable CrossFireX box is checked, is the computer recognizing and utilizing the second card?
