Onboard ethernet stopped working no connection to XP3

The onboard Nvidia Networking Adapter on my computer -- Windows XP sp3 has suddenly stopped working. There is no long a "PC" light on the modem when I plug the cable into the computer. And, therefore, I can no longer go online with the XP. I plugged in an Intel (R) 100+Management Adapter and even though it is recognized by the PC I still cannot connect to the internet. To be honest, I don't know how to configure it. I no longer see the icons in the Network Connections window, I've downloaded and installed drivers, but it still won't work. I hope I can get some help soon.

  1. Sounds like it could be a hardware failure. You can get ethernet cards really cheap nowadays (about £10 or $20), so the easiest answer might be just to get a new one.

Oh, one other thing. It's just possible that your built in ethernet has been disabled in the BIOS; you might want to check that out.
