ok not sure where to even put this but since it statred with a cpu upgrade id post it here i got a new intel9300 quad core and a ecs g31t-m mobo i got 2 gigs a ddr2 and a sata drive and a ide drive system runs great but my storage drives seem slow both ide and sata i looked for drivers but had no luck

They seem slow now, is that the problem? Try defragging, while your at it, update your bios and drivers, and update ur OS. then defrag after all that too.

Check the jumpers on your motherboard to make sure your getting adequate bandwith or if there is another setting for the drives.

Check the jmpers on your Hard drives. Seagate comes with the jumper installed. limits to 1.5Gb/s

did you run some test using software like hd tune or hd tach to see what the actaul speed is? and what brand/model are your hard drives?

kk - that won't affect the speed of the drive, as even 1.5Gb/s is faster than the drive's max sustained throughput.

what OS is it ?

recently I had a problem similar to you.
the solution was to see how the computer refers to the HD .
try switching so the Sata will bahave as IDE , and see if it solve something,
Vista has some problems with Sata HD.

i even switched hardrrives thinking it was a driver issues but its s still slow but oddly enough it may of been fixed when i added a real video card which sucks i liked thew onboard card i dont game i liked it running cheap

OK so there are two ways of us helping you.

First is quick, cheap and you will NOT go insane. Second one takes time, costs lots of money and may or may not work.

First option:

Go to your local highway or freeway and throw yourself at a car doing a decent speed.

Second option:

Get a therapist, I'd prefer the first option.
