ok not sure where to even put this but since it statred with a cpu upgrade id post it here i got a new intel9300 quad core and a ecs g31t-m mobo i got 2 gigs a ddr2 and a sata drive and a ide drive system runs great but my storage drives seem slow both ide and sata i looked for drivers but had no luck
They seem slow now, is that the problem? Try defragging, while your at it, update your bios and drivers, and update ur OS. then defrag after all that too.
recently I had a problem similar to you.
the solution was to see how the computer refers to the HD .
try switching so the Sata will bahave as IDE , and see if it solve something,
Vista has some problems with Sata HD.
i even switched hardrrives thinking it was a driver issues but its s still slow but oddly enough it may of been fixed when i added a real video card which sucks i liked thew onboard card i dont game i liked it running cheap
