just one question, are you going to oc? Because if you are i would switch the e8400 for a e7200 and then use the extra 60 dollars and get a 8800gts. Oh and try getting crucial ram, it is way better and cheaper. Plus the tracer looks amazing i just got some.

I dont plan on OC...I dont really know how to, but i could probably learn. So you think that i should get the GTS. I guess i could do that. Is it that much better? How is crucial better?

Well if you dont have a problem with learning to OC and doing it, get the E7200 and to answer your questions:

The GTS (G92 Revision) is considerably faster than the GT as it's meant to be. Price/performance wise, it's worth the extra cash.

And Crucial creates some of the most overclockable performance ram, their Ballistix range is great IMO.

Maroc.

Everything in your list looks compatible.
You should always list any other hardware and/or software that you're arent buying (monitor, etc) but intend to use in the new build so we can also check compatibility with those items.

Price out Maroc's suggestion of a 8800GTS/512 G92 and the E7200 CPU.
You'll probably be GPU limited before you are CPU limited in gaming performance.

Looks good. Just change the HSF to this: XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 like chuckm said. For review of the XIGMATEK HSF see:

yeah well with that...do i need to attach the fan on? i am worried about that because i do not want to break or damage it. seeing as this is my very first build.

If i got an 8800GT would i have good FPS for COD4? or should i go with an 8800GTS (G92)

No, the HSF comes with the fan already on. However, if you wish to get a faster/more silent fan, you will need to remove the stock one and replace it.

Edit: Get the 8800GTS (G92), it's considerably faster for not much more.

What size/resolution monitor do you use? That will help us decide if an 8800GT or 8800GTS best fits your needs & budget.

You put the heat sink on the CPU/Motherboard first and install the fan last after its all in the case.

IMO i'd go with the GTS no matter what resolution you game at. The fact of the matter is, the GTS will perform better at any resolution, high or low.

The fan on the Xigmatek does not come already attached, you do that after you install the cooler on the board, but it's not difficult. The one thing that will make the install easier is a bolt-thru kit like this;

Use it instead of the push pins
