I'm leaning towards the ECS 8800GTS 512MB card newegg has on sale: http:

$170 is a pretty good deal but I don't know much about ECS cards. Are they any good?

My other options are 8800GT 512MB by XFX and one by Gigabyte both at $140:

What is the better deal and what would you do?

I was gonna get the ECS, but I also had no idea how good they were, so I went with MSI at 194.99 with the free game.

So, in short, I can't really help you, but I was faced with a similar question and opted to not grab up the ECS.

I would do a check on the ECS website, check some forums and see what people are saying, ECS is not a well known video card brand, like XFX or Evga. The only thing that I know ECS for is motherboards. So, I would do some browsing before I would buy that card.

I have this on my newegg wish list. From the reviews I have seen it is the reference design board so it works like all the others. They were sold out a few weeks ago must had a new shipment come in. G92 all the way.

All of those cards are basically reference cards with the reference cooler. The manufacturers just slap their decals on them. Each brand does come with different support. XFX and eVGA usually carry lifetime warranties while MSI is 3 years I think. It looks like it has good reviews from people. If you are tight on money why not? just make sure it has a few year warranty if you plan to keep it.

I'd opt for the 8800GTS over a GT. Unless you go for a GT with a nice cooler, then maybe it's worth it. But $170 after rebate is a bargain. I've seen ECS around for a while, not so much in the higher segment though.

Right now the MSI is only $10.59 more than the ECS after shipping and rebate, and it includes The Witcher.

I'd pick the MSI. I trust them more, and besides getting that game for $10.59 is a very nice deal.

Also, the ECS rebate is bigger. If you have to pay tax on the rebate or if the rebate never arrives, that's a disadvantage for ECS.

The ECS 8800GTS is the same as the MSI 8800GTS, the only thing different about the card itself is the picture on the HFS. They don't build the card themselves, they buy them from an OEM (probably the same one coming off the same production line).

True but I'd trust MSI to have better support than ECS.
