Undecided about Xigmatek

Has anyone ever had any experience with a Xigmatek power supply? I'm looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817815003 for my next build.

I want a modular power supply and more then 800 watts. I read somewhere that Xigmatek makes power supplies for Thermaltake (or maybe the other way around).


By the way, this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153062 looks exactly like the Xigmatek.

XIGMATEK makes great HSFs but I wouldn't trust their PSUs. Get a good PSU and you will be happy. I recommend PP&C and Corsair.

Aaaaah, I've got a cheap old ThermalTake ToughPower 700 Watt that does the trick and hasn't fried my computer, it's been taking care of business for ~18 months. I don't think you've got to spend $200+ on a PSU to get something decent. ...but I'd not recommend a $60 jobbie either.

Thermaltake Toughpowers have done the job for two of my computers very well, one being a 700wt and the other a 850wt. On top of that, they're a lot quieter than the PC P&C 750wt that I have also used. That aside the PC P&C is a good solid unit.

OP- Don't tough a Xigmatek PSU unless you're carrying it out to a garbage can. They do not belong in a computer.

The XIGMATEK is a new model and a bit of an unknown but its made by CWT
so I don't feel it's a bad choice. It's a little louder than some
other choices when pushed hard.
CWT also makes the Corsair 750TX and the ThermalTake ToughPower 850 among others. Antec Truepower Quattro 850 is made by Enhance and is the same price as the Xig 850 (with no rebate requried). TPQ 850 review @ JonnyGuru

Special thanks goes to WR2, I never though that Antec would have a decent Power supply for around the same price.
