I play ona Dell 17" moniter so I'm just wondering is there a need for 512MB of memory? The only game i play is COD4 and will be for a while yet. I will play newer games as they come out but COD4 is the main one!
The 8800GT 512 and 3870 are just out side my price range, and I'm in Ireland so no Newegg for me Thanks for the help guys!

Quite a few games benefit from 512 MB and at this point in time i really think it would be false econemy to buy a card with any less.
What kind of budget do you have and what options are available to you in Ireland, E-Buyer/Aria ? To be honest im thinking that a 3850 would be enough for your needs, Whats the rest of the system specs like ?
Mactronix
I'm going to take a guess and say you are gaming at 1024 x 768 on a 17" monitor, and as the previous poster said it is really hard to reccommend something without knowing the full system specs.
That being said, for a someone on a budget the cards I would personally reccommend in general would be a 8800GS, 9600GT or 3850.
Sorry had a full post typed out but something went wrong so I half-assed this one!
Specs are:
C2D E6750 @ 3.00
OCZ ReaperX DDR2 @ 4-4-3-10
Gigabyte P35-DS4
Horrible bottlenecking 7100GS!
Playing at 1280x1024
Spose the best shop would be Komplett.ie or Overclockers.co.uk!
Yeah, I would say the 3850 256 or the 9600GT 512, either of these would be fine doing 1280x1024 in COD4. Both of these cards are under $200. I actually got a 3870 for $179.99 (in Canada). The 8800GT 512 is the best card in the bunch, but it's usually over $200.

The 9600gt and the 3870 are somewhat even in performance. They each beat each other in different tests. I would recommend going with the one that you can find cheapest if you're not getting the 8800gt.
