Xp to Windows7 Fail

i got windows 7 disk , andi have installedWindows xp Proffesinal
i put the disk in and went through the set up , it offerd 64 bit or 86 i think it was ... i chose 64 bit.
iwent through the whole thing after it said it was finalising the instalation and it restarted the computer screen loads but goes black showing my mouse pointer only ... and dosnt do anything else...

im not sure if its my pc hardware or w/e but somethings not right.

2GB ddr2 OCZ ram
Q6600 intel stock clocked.
8800GT
Creative X-fi blaster
seagate 160GB Sata HDD

You have to do a clean install.

I have no idea what your mate did, or what he may or may not have told you is possible. But for a fact, you can not "upgrade" XP directly to Win 7.

You need to boot to the Win 7 DVD, and point the install routine at your XP partition. Follow the instructions from there.
