Re-install it.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs

There are 4 not-so-shortcut looking buttons on the left side of the box, one says, "Add/Remove Windows Components" and you should click this one. The very bottom entry is to install/uninstall Windows Messenger.

Hi, sorry but in my control panel it doesnt give an option to add/ remove programmes. I've tried the 'uninstall, change or repair' option too but msn messenger isnt even in the list.

Yep done that but add/ remove programmes definitely isnt there, i even looked on my pc at work to see what i'm supposed to be looking for and it was there but not on my laptop. The only thing that looks close to it is a programmes and features option which when clicked lists a whole range of programmes and the date i installed them but MSN isnt one of them. I'm completely at a loss!

Ok, now I get it, you don't even have the icon.

Try this:

Download and run
ccleaner.

See if that made add/remove programs show up.

Open Windows explorer and navigate to the Windows\inf folder.
Find and right-click on sysoc.inf and select Install.

See if that made add/remove programs show up.

If that didn't work, do this:

Start>Run and enter appwiz.cpl

See if that made add/remove programs show up. immediately.

Ok so the other things didnt work so i did the start>run option and it brought up the menu i mentioned in the last message, a whole list of programmes i've got that lets me install/ uninstall which i guess is the same thing as the add/remove programmes option?? The only problem is that messenger isnt one of them so i cant install or uninstall it. I tried downloading MSN again but it says i already have MSN messenger and that i'm signed in!
