Hey
Been having some troubles with my Audio on my new motherboard, i use a 5.1 speaker setup, and unless i enable special effects in the Soundmax Option, sound only comes out of the Left and Right speakers, and center/rear are silent.

Now when i enable the soundmax effects all is fine with the speakers, but if i now plug in headphones, the sound stays in 5.1 so the headphones sound terrible, and echoey.

Anyone got any idea what the problem is, or had the same problem?

Thanks for any help

ps my full setup is:
Asus P5Q-E
Intel Q6600 @ 3.2GHz
4gb GeIL RAM 4-4-4-12 900MHz
nVidia 8800 GTS 320mb
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1tb
Creative Inspire p580 5.1 Speakers

I was having the same problems...

Open the ugly soundmax control panel, goto settings (hammer and wrench icon), goto speakers, my sub and center speaker were all the way off.

Now I cant figure out why my volume is sooooo low. I have to turn my speakers up 100% just to get a faint noise to come out.

I've been having the same issue, where did you enable special effects? I can't find it on mine.
