Well first off I was wondering if having a GDDR3 video card, like a GeForce 8800GT would work on a mobo with a memory standard of DDR2 800? Also If anyone has any suggestions on parts that I may want to switch out or if somethings going to bottleneck my system, feel free to tell me. This is my first build I've attempted by myself, so just want to see if I did anything stupid, but anyway here's what I was thinking:

P.S. My brother wants to do the same build except with these two parts in place of mine, If you could check these out too with the rest of my parts I would be greatful.

I would get this Hd instead its a a bit more but you get 32mb cache on your hd that should give you better burst and read and write speeds .. plus you get a 5 year warranty instead of 3 .. and about the 9800 gtx , I wouldnt go for that card tell your bro to get an 8800 gts from evga and use the step up program when in june when Nvidias new card comes out , the 9800 gtx is over priced and not that much faster then the current 8800 ultras and gtxs. hope this helps

The memory controller on the motherboard (for intel) or CPU (for AMD), does not control the memory on the graphics card, just the RAM. Also DDR2 does not equal GDDR2... The DDRx and GDDRx are different naming systems... You graphics card should work in your planned system.

He is probably refering to HDD, HardDrve... I am guessing there was suppose to be a link there.

The 9800GTX is overpriced for the minor performance gain it has compared to the 800GTX (I think the 8800 even beat it), but the 8800GT is great performance/price ratio... Your looking at little difference between the 8800GT and the 9800GTX.

The Antec 900 is a great case, I recommend getting some sort of after market cooling for the CPU, if it is side mounted (I.e. its exhaust points out the back of the case), it will increase the airflow of the system. This will help all the components (I guess), but especially helps the CPU stay cool and the coolers fan to spin slower (thus quieter).
