My hard drive is dying. I'm trying to replace it and do a fresh install of Vista but I get this message:
"Computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu."

The Vista setup can see the hard drive fine. I deleted a couple of partitions and formatted it within the Vista setup. There is only 1 HDD plugged in and only 1 partition. Its a Samsung 1TB drive. I have been using this drive as a backup in an external enclosure so I know it works, I was copying some stuff off it today (before I formatted it).

I changed the boot order back and forth between CD and HDD, no difference.

The other threads seem to indicate I need to change these BIOS settings. I tried both and it made no difference.

Please help.

Give this a look. What is the SATA Mode set to - AHCI or IDE?
