I formatted my pc with xp pack 3 after a backup has been done.after the installation was done.i realize that,the back up files were been moved from the back up drive and is there a way to retrieve the files

You could try Recuva from http://www.piriform.com or Restoration 2514 from www.win-freeware.com/REST2514.htm and search for a recovered file of type .bkf
