I am building my friend a new pc(for Age of Conan) and look for help from the experts!
1) What card should I get for him? I currently have the 8800 GTX and he's loving the frame rate on my pc. Is there a significant difference between 8800 gtx and 9800?
2) I currently have a 8800 GTX. I thought that I'd wait until they go down in price until I bought a 2nd one for Sli but they are still around 400 and it seems not many places are selling them anymore; are they discontinued? Would you buy one now or wait for a another price drop? Also would this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341002power supply(link) be able to handle 2 8800gtxs(only have 2 hard drives in use)? If not what would you recommend?
Honestly, I'd take the 8800GTX over the 9800GTX, even if it's marginally faster (The 9800). Not only it'll do better on higher resolutions, but when you overclock it you should be able to see a bigger improvement clock for clock than on the 8800 G92/9800.
A lot of people would preach on the 9800 pros, like consuming less energy and being about $50 cheaper (9800 is somewhere around $300-320, while the 8800GTX is at $360-380). It's your choice, depending on whether your friend feels comfortable overclocking his card, power supply of choice, and more importantly his budget.
Also, at this point I'd advise against buying a second one for yourself, the GTX260/280 and HD 4K are due in the upcoming months and should be able to finally outdo the 8800GTX, and it's not like the 8800GTX is anything short of a mammoth that can keep you cozy while you wait.

My $88 Zotac 8800GTS from FX Videocards arrived today. Haven't tested it yet.
Only scary thing is try to go to Zotac site and register the card for USA warranty and it says none available in your region. I would like to order the GTX myself at that price, but beware it is probably without warranty if you live the in the USA.
The fact that it is even 209 makes me wonder wtf ? They must be trying to dump em ?
Yeah, tell me about it. I wanted a GTX or two, but didn't trust the site. Had it been newegg.....
But for $88 no rebate, I decided to try and grab the GTS 320MB. Less of a gamble than $210. Here's the related link where you can see I was spilling my thoughts about the risky order.
