I have been trying to burn a movie with many different software such as convertxtodvd, ashampoo burning studio, xilisoft and even the built-in burning function of window 7 but there were more than 25 failed attempts continuously.

Is that because of my dvd drive coming to an end?

Try to burn a simple data disc first, if that fails the drive may be faulty.
