i've got an Asus P5K-E/Wifi-Ap that i'm using with some Crucial Ballistix PC2 8500 1066mhz DDR2 ram (2x1gb). i think i'm having some memory problems but my question is why would the B1 slot read DDR2 memory as DDR3? both sticks show up as DDR3 in memtest86+ in slot B1.

any suggestions?

memtest didn't make the ram so their read-outs will be semi-accurate. Get the latest version. You can check your ram specs in Sandra, Everest & cpuz, to name a few.
