so I am asking , does it work with the abit AN78-Hd with no problems

This question needs to be addressed through Abits support, the only information publicly available is listed at the Abit website and even though your M/B is AM2/AM2+, there has been no BIOS Flash release since ID = 13 on 7-10-2008, meaning Abit is either way behind on updateing their BIOS Flashes or the M/B isn't capable of running it.

My only concern would be can your M/B handle the 140W CPUs, and BIOS Flash 11 supports the AMD X4 Phenom 9850 which is a 140W CPU, but not the Phenom 9950???

So thats why I'm suggesting you go straight to Abit Support, and preferably Abits Phone Support, to get the answers you need.
