First off, I am one of the many that are having problems with Age of Conan and extremely low FPS. I am runing Phen quad core 2.2 AM2+ Asus MB 8G OCZ ram and windows Vista 64.
Here is my dilema. Both cards are around $270 CAD the local store only has the following 2 cards in my price range. Currently i have a 3850 and just want to break the damn thing in half. These are 2 really similar cards but I just want to pick the right one, there is no way the wife is going to allow me to upgrade again anytime soon.

agree, at least give it a couple weeks till some reliable benchmarks come out. Turn your settings down low and grit your teeth and bear it for just a short time.
Your phenom is what is causing your troubles, games cpu requirements are ridiculous, and many people are able to get good frame rates with a cpu that is 3.0+ gigs.
His Phenom is the problem, you must be joking....? Its a quad core, that 2.2ghz is around an effective 5.3ghz. If it was a 2.2ghz P4 then thats what would be causing the troubles. Even a E6500 is just fine for this game.
Anyways, I have a 8800GT oc'ed to 700mhz and I run at 1680 x 1050 on the Medium preset with 2x AA and AF at 8, with shadows turned off (there is very little loss to visuals with shadows off compared to on with low detail). Before turning shadows off I was averaging around 50fps, after i turned shadows off im averaging around 70, 100 indoors. The 8800GT or the G92 GTS will get the job done, but like others said I recomend waiting for the ATI 4870, screw the GTX 200's.

Its a crippled quad core. And 2.2 gigs is not even close to the cpu requirements for the game. Its not multithreaded, so the whole 5.3 ghz effectiveness is nill.
