I know nothing about AMD but i have used the cpu charts and the AMD has won, though i am aware that the INTEL is capable of a overclock up to 3.6 GHZ on air. I need a cheap mobo/cpu but i want it to be faster than my current AMD 2300 BE 1.8 GHZ.

All i need to know is which is better (i will overclock lightly (maybe by 500 MGZ if the intel but not at all on the AMD)), If you have a cheaper mobo/cpu combo please share.

This is going to be used for gaming and internet (Geforce 7950 GX2), we got an old computer and mobo and cpu is not any good, so ima use my cpu/mobo that bottlenecks my GPU with that one and would like a faster cpu to go with the gaming computer.

In my opinion, this is not even a question.

Intel.

in this case i would say intel. the mobo for the amd is so cheap that you wouldn't be able to overclock it. not the fualt of the cpu, but the mobo.

Second that.

i'd probably say go with the AMD from that selection because it is faster than any pentium, it consumes a 100th of the power and runs cooler. or is that just the prescott?

if we could modify your selection i'd go for a C2D.

LOL another one who doesnt know the architectures

Pentium D's are Netburst based cpus that consume lots of power, run at high ghz and got canned

Pentium Dual Core's are P6 based and perform better then the Pentium D's at a fraction of the heat/power levels

Come back after you read up about all the modern cpus before posting BS

I was thinking that to,i probably will but had to ask.

If INTEL is the better choice than what is AMD DOING? looked at the reviews so i guess i will be getting INTEL.
