Okay, after going on a frenzy of upgrading/building this AMD Apider Computer it resulted in whats below. This system kicks ass, what do you guys think?
AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition Quad-Core @2.8Ghz
8Gb (4x2Gb) OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066mhz
MSI K9A2 Platinum AMD 790FX Socket AM2+ Motherboard
4x CrossfireX ATI Radeon HD 3870 512mb GPUs (2 are installed, 2 are being shipped now)
500Gb (2x250Gb) Seagate Barracuda 16mb SATA 7.2k rpm in RAID 0 Promise T3
500Gb (2x250Gb) Seagate Barracuda 8mb SATA 7.2k rpm
Bigfoot Tech. Killer K1 Network Interface Card
1x Lite-On DVD/CD Reader SATA
1x ASUS DVD/CD Reader/Burner SATA
1x Pioneer Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Reader/Burner SATA
AMD...overkill? I don't think you'll need to worry about that for a long long long time.

Yes, I use an Intel Quad. Sometimes its a little overclocked, sometimes a bit underclocked. Yet, its always nice and the virtualiztion is sick. And?
i'm sorry but is 2.8ghz the best that you can do out of the phenom 9850? wtf. i do 2.7ghz stable with my 2.2ghz phenom 9500. same mobo too. 300 mhz overclock is not a lot dude. that's what i keep my phenom at all the time, 300mhz oc.
4 3870 card? lost your marbles haven't you. could have waited a couple weeks for 4870 and get two of them and beat your system easily.
hmm, would have gone with the lastes gen of seagate, instead of the 7200.10. nice setup none the less.
my biggest question which you haven't listed is the power supply. which one are you using and how many watts?
Seems kinda pointless chaining that much video power(does anything even show gains going to 4 cards?)to a processor that slow, but heh to each there own.

I think I have a spending problem....

Dont listen to all this people, you have a great system right there. Im glad somebody finally takes advantage of the super low prices AMD has on their CPUs and GPUs. However, that K1 is a waste and I know even you know that.
Congratulations, you got the fastest AMD components

Christopher can you please stop with your math. i was annoying and stupid at the begging, but now it's just getting ridiculous. you go on every thread and repeat the same gibberish, can you please stop?
"you go on every thread and repeat the same gibberish"
hahaha I'm glad someone addressed the elephant in the room.
People worry about how much they spend on a system, gees. I see people overspend thousands and thousands on cars and houses all the time and when we see someone enthusiastic enough to learn something and embrace a project we don't complement the effort but berate them if they spent $200 more than they had to. Alot of the tech savvy people here are quick to look down on one inferior component yet never really think about the hours and hours they spend tinkering and oc'ing all for what? I mean what's so meaningfull about a few extra frame rates and killing monsters that don't really exist anyhow? The people that actually use their machines for productive purposes make a small percentage of the contingent here.......my point.......?........lighten up !!
Oh, we are lightening up but the OP is seriously considering pouring a relevant amount of money into an AMD platform than an Intel platform of similar cost would rape (Stop, no, I said No!). Its hard to believe someone savvy enough to build doesn't recognize this so we we poke at him in our fraternal way and say, "Psssst, dude, um...over there...."
