Corrupted hard disk

hi i have a 200gb hard disk that is contaminated with viruses and i was about to put protection on it and as it was downloading it crashed and will only boot back up in safe mode so i decided i would get the important files out so can you give me some ideas how i would go about it please.

How many files are there? I was thinking maybe you can upload them to an online service that scans them automatically, like Gmail, then download them to your new computer.

Yea cuz uploading gigs of files to the internet wouldn't take forever. Why not burn them to a bunch of CDs? It would be a lot faster. And punctuation can win hearts.
