i would like to know if this seems like a good build or not and what you would change.
Also i would like to verify that the earthwatts psu with the case is enough for the system i have seen builds with 600-1000 W psu but assume they were planning to do sli.
thnx
ps i would not like to go above $1000 as i plan on buying a 24" lcd around $500
Get the Q6600 and overclock it. It will be faster than the Q9300 and you save $73. The DS3L will be fine too.
Get 2x2GB DDR2-800 (PC2-6400), it's cheaper and saves you some cash.
Upgrade the video card to 8800GTS 512MB. It's faster, and every bit helps at 24". It's also better cooled, which is very important with that Sonata case.
Look for a WD6400AAKS or Seagate 7200.11. Samsung's HDDs are not that great.
Good DVD/case/psu.
Where are you shopping, NCIX?

I agree with everything except the bold statement. I have that exact hard drive, and it's great. It's not the fastest on the market, but it just might be the quietest. I can honestly say I have never heard my hard drive. It's fast enough for every day use, and I'm even planning on buying the Samsung 1T drive soon.

i chose q9300 over q6600 cuz i read that it runs a lot cooler, as for overclocking i would prolly only push it to about 3gigs i want to stick with the stock cooler for a while.
i was planning on getting the gts but for $50 the performance gain isnt a lot
is air flow that bad in the sonata case? would i be better off with antec 300 NOT 900 or cm 330 with a ocz 500w or cm 600w or silverstone 600w or antec 500w psu
also do the 8800gt and 8800gts fit inside these cases
isnt using ddr2-800 gonna be like a bottleneck cuz q9300 is at 1333 and q6600 at 1066 and is 4gb overkill or not ive heard ppl have issues with drivers for xp/vista 64
You'd be fine with DDR2 800 for the Q6600. If you're only overclocking to ~3ghz that would be 9x333 which would run the ram at 667 speeds using a 1:1 ratio. You could also drop the multiplier to 8 and run 8x400 (=3200mhz), allowing the ram to run at its native 800mhz speed using a 1:1 ratio.
The problem with the Q9300 is that it has a low multiplier so in order to go over the 3 ghz you'd need your ram to run faster than 800mhz.
4gb seems to be the sweet spot right now. A 32-bit OS will still see and use about 3.2gb so you're not wasting a whole lot. A 64-bit OS (which I've been running and haven't found any driver problems at all) will use all 4gb of RAM, but it uses more with its 64-bit addresses so you're really not gaining too much when you're sitting at 4gb.
