Some pictures recently disappeared off of my camera even though it was not plugged into a computer. I have a feeling that the data is still there because there is 950MB used on the card but all the files on the card totals to 100MB. Could there have been some typ of corruption where the file directories were erased but the pictures are still there? Is there any way to recover them (they were kinda important).

Thanks for all the help

your file have been set to hidden attribute. go to cmd.exe and change it. this problem usually occur when a virus have been recently spread to ur pendrive. read here how to set ur file attribute from hidden to unhidden. firstly u must go to run and type cmd.exe and press enter. then if ur pdrive in drive E, write this, E: and press enter. the cmd program will go to ur pdrive directory. i dont hv time to xplain it more. read it here. :) goodluck! http://www.easydos.com/attrib.html

you could just format the drive that should fix it.. the camera will reinitialize it with any files it needs on it. after you format it (preferred to format on pc with a card reader)

I know how to format the card, but the whole point was to recover the pictures.

Also, i tried the cmd way, but found nothing new.

Try something like GetDataBack (from Runtime.org), try the free trial version, if it can't find the files they are probably gone, if it does find them you have the choice of buying the full version (and recovering the files) or trying with some other free tool... At least it'll tell you if the files are still there.
