Hi Guys and Gals :hello:
I just purchased this motherboard for a quick PC build for an aunt who just needs a pc for email and chatting with her son who lives in Australia.

I got this board cheap on newegg (openbox) and put everything together.

Now here is my problem. When it posts, I get a "no floppy" drive error (40). I go into bios and there is no way to turn this off.

There is the following options:

BOOT
1. removable storage <---this is where my problem lies. The A: Floppy is listed here and I can't get rid of it. I don't have a Floppy installed.
2. Hard Disk <---this is where I can choose if I want my hard drives to boot

BOOT SEQUENCE <---this is set as Hard drive then CD rom. I don't have any removable storage selected in this sequence.

I'm pretty familiar with my way around Bios'. However, the removable storage check only has one option and it says: 1. Floppy drive. It won't let me disable this.

So now I have to hit F1 EVERY time I turn the machine on to continue to boot into windows after I get the NO FLOPPY (40) error...or I can buy a floppy drive and be rid of this issue.

I really don't want to buy a floppy drive because personally I think the floppy drive needs to die and I want no part in supporting it.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem? maybe a bios update?

thanks Gang,
Craig

Alternatively there is usually a "halt on: all errors: all but floppy: all but keyboard: all but keyboard and floppy" option.

I think its obvious what to do but....

Choose halt on: all but floppy.

Older i get the better i was

That's funny, I didn't notice him blaming the hardware... we must be reading different threads.
