A P4 will definately slow that card down. The upgrade will be quite noticable non theless with that card, tho like I said itll slow it down. Itll be more noticable on lower res, but once again, at lower res, its more cpu dependent, which means more of a loss with that cpu

I've been in 2 discussions with people on here that had P4's and upgraded to the 3850 AGP. They were both Extremely happy with the upgrade. If you can't upgrade your current system, the 3850AGP is the best you will be able to do. I think it all depends on what games you play as well. Don't expect this to revive your PC past a whole year but expect it to play most games moderatly till the end of this year or early next year.

Good choice, by then the 4xxx series and the G2x0's will be here, plus your cpu problems simple wont exist. Try getting a Q/C2D that goes at least 2.4Ghz, and youll be very happy

im building a pc for my gf so i can free up mine and i got a barebone with amd 64 x2 4200 2 gigs of ddr2. my question is will a sapphire hd 3850 512 mb bottleneck the cpu
well let me tell you that probably bottleneck! because its like to have a pentium d at 3.73 ghz" so i would recommend you to buy a an amd 5000+ or a 5200+to go for the sure thing. you can find in amazon.com for about 65$ and you can rest assure that you're cpu its not going to bottleneck your graphics card.
