Ok, just check out the link http://www.pczilla.net/en/post/25.html
Since when do review sites purchase their cards?
It would kind of bar them from ever getting a free review sample again.
Sure would. I think its a ES from another site being sold here.
eh it has different memory, gddr4??
No, GDDR5 and GDDR3.
It's not ready product... Only engineering sample, so not the real thing, but it should be relative close to final release.
Allso as it was said, that the drivers are very beta. One reason to delay the official release of these cards!
Plus as others have said it only had GDDR4 instead of 5.
Yeah, this card will be bandwirth deprived, but should be better than any 3870 out there
Me thanks dat dis web sight is knot cumpleetely akurrate.
lol ^
Meh thins so deu, but it iss eentewesting iss eet naught?
I see a different question: Will ATI be happy about this, or will ATI be P.O.ed because these samples are getting sold as being the real product and people will then get a bad impression about the card and then put it down because it doesn't perform as expected? I can just see some write-ups appearing that talk about how poorly the card benches out, how its a step backwards, etc. Of course, every Nvidia fan around will then use those write ups to deride the real 4870s when the real ones finally come out on the market.
If I cant buy it, then its not on sale..
Jaydee you need to get out more, your constant posting of minimal threads is irritating..
This article doesnt tell ous anything and why does it deserve a new thread?
totally agreed.there has already been lots of the hd4800s because of you jaydee.can the mods do sumthing about this???
what are you talking about? I'm glad he posted it, it just shows us that its getting closer and closer, and that we should be receiving updated benchmarks soon.
Thanks Jaydee

neat, that report says toms bought one. so will we be expecting these people to do a review? hopefully!
They promised to do further in depth review of phenom 9850 and it never showed up.
You have to admire there gramer in that story. "We was informed" LOL
kool stuff!
yes but the 9850 isn't as big of a deal as the new 4000 series lol.

Is that for 4000 frames per hour ?
While not accurate for the production models, it should allow great insight into how the architecture differs from the current one with fill rate tests and such.
Sure it will be bandwidth limited compared tothe GDDR5 models, but it may be a good predictor of the GDDR3 HD4850 models.
Either way, would rather be checking out one of those in hand than theorizing about the changes based on rumoured leaks.

Spot on. Never mind JDJ's apparant bombarding the forum with useless threads????(some people are mad).
I am personally at the point where im avoiding forum threads about either sides cards due to the amount of unfounded fanboy rubbish that is getting spread about. I only looked in at this one as i know JDJ isnt a time waster.

If you're avoiding this so called "fanboy rubbish" why are you here actively posting? I personally find this thread useful along with others so don't flame him. I for one am anticipating these cards and by the looks of it, so is JDJ.
Maroc.
I think you missed what Mactonix was saying, to me he was questioning the criticism in his first line.
Perhaps I'm misreading it, but to me it seems you're misreading his statement. I focus on the last sentenc, not what appears to be a rhetorical question in the second.

Thank you TGGA that was my intention.

Look, this thread was mostly for fun, with a little intrigue. If you dont want to read it, please dont. Im trying to bring a few things here that I see or hear. If anyones noticed, Ive also brought info on the G280/260s. I hope to make a contribution, if you dont find it so, like I said, please dont read it
^A+
People argue against a thread which was voluntarily created to inform and keep people updated, and you get some posters that can't appreciate it
Keep me updated at least!!!! lol

TY, Ive tried to cast off any fanboyism as much as I can. I do prefer the red team, thats just me. But I own nVidia, and am currently running nVidia. Im sooo looking forward to this launch. This launch will put ATI products into real competition again, and the G280 is just a huge monster thats going to double any single gpu output weve currently got out. Both of these launches are finally going to let people with the G80/90 series get newer cards, and like you, if you want to spend the bucks, go SLI with 2 G2x0's, but youd better get a bigger LCD, or youll never see the difference, well ok you will, but I know how much you like Crysis.
jaydee.im sorry if id hurt your feelings.im truly am.its just that its hard to find information in this forum because there are lots of similar threads opend and are updated ramdomly.just my two cents.if there is just one thread and its regularly updated, it would be easier to share and discuss.
I agree. NP, its cool. Maybe we should start asking for stickies, even temp ones, thatd solve alot of this

There are post whores on the board, but JDJ ain't one of them.
Dont listen to them JDJ. yar doing ok, providing nice info and funny one aswell.
Im as hyped as you, but more on the CUDA and Ati Stream part. Witch is farly hard to understand, and even worse to show and make a "readable" post.
Keep on Rocking !!!
$571?! I thought the 4800 was supposed to be under $300? Is the price inflated because it is an ES with only 5 copies total?
And....
- It's an Engineering sample not retail, that likely ATi don't want sold at all.
- It's a part from overseas, you're thinking US prices.
As mentioned before it's not an example of a shipping part either in specs or price, but it will hopefully give the reviewers some insight into the architecture in advance of the official launch.
