I really need a veteran's advice. I was waiting for the GTX 280 to come out to build a rig around it, but it flopped imo. So, I have decided to build a gaming rig around two 9800 gtx's. What would be the best setup as far as CPU and Mobo's are concerned? Is it better to get a higher clocked Duo Core or a lower clocked Quad Core? ( I would also like it if the zalman 9700 fit onto the mobo too) Thanks in advance!

Are you going to OC? If so, and you want 4.0Ghz, get a dual core, if you just want moderate OCing, get a quad. The quads dont actually perform worse than the duals, they just dont OC as well due to temps.

If OCing isnt in your plans, then its a bit trickyer. My personal feeling is that its better to have the quad and be ready for the multi-threaded future, however most people say that its just a waste and your better off with a dual. In the end it all comes down to how much you want to spend and how many bells and whistles do you want.

yea but if he plans on keeping this build for at lease 2 years then I would go with Quad imo, because future gaming will use quad core. I herd AoC and Crysis both support quad core (dunno if this is a fact but I herd from word of mouth). Unless you plan on building a gameing system next year go with quad imo.

Get a faster dual core for gaming, rather than a quad core.
A dual core at the present will beat a quad core in gaming.
Otherwise if you are looking to the future, I think quad core is the way to go.
