Frist of i'd like to ask would it be safe to overclock my core 2 duo e6420 from 2.13 to 2.8 with stock cooler ? and i have never overclocked a processor so i need the total guide so help would be really great ..besides i have a gigabyte EP45C-DS3R board and runing an hd4870 using Thermaltake 500 watts psu ..so will be waiting for the overclocking guide guys.

Here's my rig
Mobo - Gigabyte EP45C-DS3R
RAM - 2.00 GB DDR2 (800 MHZ)
CPU - Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13GHz
GPU - Sapphire HD4870 512 MB
PSU - Thermaltake 500 Watts
Hardrive - Samsung 320 GB
Hitachi 160 GB
Monitor - Philips 17 inch flat

Imo, you probably need a good HSF. Here is the guide specific to P35-DS3L board, the settings should be smiler on P35-DS3R:
