IBM promises cooler chips with capillary-action and water jets

Published on October 27, 2006

IBM's Zurich labs have developed a new heatsink and water-cooling that promises to cool chips up to six times better than conventional air cooling. The heatsink contains tiny channels similar to the capillaries you would see in tree leaves and in human circulator systems. The channels allow either water or heatsink compound to spread more uniformly and thereby dissipate more heat. Read more

More Information

I'm using a VF1000 to cool my 8800 gt. I have enough memory heatsinks and the cooler is attached correctly. However I'm having some problems cooling the voltage parts on the side of the cooler. I have some mosfet heatsink coolers on them, but I don't think they're doing the job very well because I'm getting occasional artifacting and errors, and the other day, one of the heatsinks fell off O_O. So I'd like to know from anyone on the forum if they can suggest any good heatsink coolers for the voltage parts that have decent adhesive that wont fall off, and will still be able to cool it properly. Thanks in advance!
