Hard drive operating system vista

Hello,
my system crashed., It would not power on. I took the powersource in and tested fine. When I put in back together i forgot to connect the hard drive . It booted with the boot to cd . I power down and connected the hard drive./ Once conected it would power for a short moment and the fan would ot continue. I booted up and once it was booting I would hurray and conect the hard drive and it would go into windows.It would stay connected .If i power off and they connected I would have to go thru the same thing. I change the clock thinking that was possibliity. have any ideas how to resolve this. Thank you

What was the cause of your crash. If not a power failure, have the HDD checked for errors, or even replace it and reinstall the OS.

Try resetting the BIOS, unplug the computer from power, take out the CMOS battery for about 15 seconds, put it back in, turn on the system.

You may need to replace the drive, if it works OK aside from the boot issue you may be able to clone it. May need to get an external cloning hardware though since you can't boot with the drive in the system.
