Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knew how to help me with an issue. My USB ports are flashing on and off non-stop at random (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't). I noticed this due to the sound Vista makes that alerts you a USB device was recognized, it will sound the alert several times in succession from 3-4 to 6 times in a row. I used to think it was my motherboard, but I have bought a new motherboard last week and the problem persists.

Does anyone have a slight idea what could cause this symptom?

Does this happen with both rear and front USB ports? I would check for loose or faulty wires that could be causing a short.

no faulty wires, no shorts. I've built two computers with the same issues now. The problem seems to happen on pretty much all USB ports.

I also have a problem with my mouse doing this, and I once solved the problem by plugging the USB key on to my G15keyboard's USB ports. But now I'm not using that keyboard anymore. The funny thing is that I once had the same problem with a PS2 mouse that I tried for a week.
