cpu - q940
gfx - 9800gtx
HDD - 2x WD corsair 500gb
Optical - 1 Liteon dvd r/rw
RAM - 4x Corsair XMS2 1gb ddr2

the reason i ask is mainly for the GFX even after reading the sticky im still confused about the 12v rails i think i need a minimum of 26a on a 12v but i really need to clarify this.

Cheers Guys :)

Corsair would be a good choice yes. For your current needs, the 550VX, 650TX, 520HX or 620HX (if you want dual-gpu headroom) would do just fine.

A Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax would be the way to go. I'm sure even a Corsair 450VX would handle your system pretty well.

PS: The 450VX has 33 amps on the 12V rail.

Hi mrgonzo,

Check out the following two threads where I've been having this very discussion. Note the first one also includes stuff about case fans and the second one is also about new intel motherboards.

This should be useful.

Generally I came to the conclusion that it is between Corsair or Enermax for quietness, reliability, design, output - everything else tended to be less good somewhere. The Enermax is expensive but a slightly better design. Any one of these will have enough connectors to run your current system. I had also been making sure I could use the PSU in my next build and consequently wanted to have the possibility of a second GPU and interchangable cabling.

Hope this is useful
Jeremy

PP&C 610/750; Corsair 520/550 or better. (Imo, 450 is cutting it a little too close).
