Hi building a new system based around a Gigabyte EP35-DS3R, with a 4850. I need to choose memory, but I'm very limited to what I can buy here. It's either no name, Hynix or Kingston value ram.

My questions are:

Does anyone know which of these choices would be best?

Kingston make both CL=5 and CL=6 for DDRII PC6400 and Hynix seems to be CL=5 and is a little cheaper. which is better CL=5 or CL=6?

I'll be Runnig XP, but thinking about getting 4GB anyway, would 2x2GB be better than 4x1GB?

By the way, I won't be overclocking

Thanks you

Usually, lower case latency is better so CL-5 is bit faster the CL-6 and CL-4 is better then both etc etc. Personally, I have no experience with Hynix but I have bought value ram from Kingston and had no problems with it.

If your budget allows, go for the lowest CL possible and go for 2 x 2 gig stick. Note that XP 32 bit won't use all of your 4 gig of ram, more like 3.5-3.6 at max but memory is so cheap nowadays that I'd still recommend 2 x 2. Furthermore, if need be, you'll be able to increase your memory seize up to 8 gig.
