Hi everyone. I have a PC that needs an upgrade its a couple years old. I dont know the stats off the top of my head, but its an '06 built computer with 3gb of pc3200 ram, AMD 4200(?), Nvidia 7900. Time to upgrade!

Looking to game on it mainly. Not looking for top of the line stuff, just stuff that will get me by on a couple games I play. I am looking for a decent motherboard/processor combo that wont be over 200 bucks (if there is such a thing).

I have plenty of gear to swap over so right now I am just looking for these 2. Also any motherboards compatible with pc3200 ddr ram would be good too until I buy new RAM. I will basically transfer my hd/video/ram/PSU until I get money to interchange with better. On a tight budget lol. If you guys know of any deals, or any good combos in this price range, any posts will be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

An E2160/2180/2200 will do you just fine. And get a Gigabyte P35-DS3L.

IMHO it's the most solid combo you can get for under $200.

You should overclock these processors for good performance:

Thanks for the help guys. gonna go with the 2180 and the gigabyte i think. looks like it can be overclocked easily. next on the list is a video card for gaming. that 7900 needs a boost. lol.

Would you guys say the 2200 is the best out of the 3 dual cores listed? Another silly question: Backwards compatible with pc3200 ram?

Thanks again.
