i need to know how to take my acer travelmate 2310 back to factory settings as something is wrong with it

There will be an instruction on the first black you see at Startup if this is possible and if not, there probably isn't a Recovery Partition. Did you make recovery disks when you bought the machine? In any even, it's a drastic step and hardly ever really necessary. What are the problems?
