So, i got UNUSED Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit discs + key from my friend for free, and since my desktop machine has Windows 7 already, i decided to put it into this eMachines E625 running XP. I have a problem that it gets stuck always to "Expanding files 6%" Windows 7 does work, but i dont have product key which isn't in use. So, i want that Vista in this machine, but that Expanding files is problem. Using "Native IDE" or "Native AHCI" wont help in BIOS, the HDD is a Hitachi HTS543216L9A3F
And here is other specs
CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 (originally the laptop had Athlon TF-20)
RAM: 2 GB DDR2
GPU: ATI Radeon X1200

What can i do?

More about : expanding files

Forget about installing crappy ole Vista, for one thing ! You have windows 7 installed, so the product key is on your HDD. Try running keyfinder (Magical Jelly Bean) to retrieve your keys.

I haven't entered a key in install.. I tried to make USB stick with WinToFlash, but all i get when i boot from USB, a empty screen with blinking cursor + few weird charters on screen, a little smiley, green square etc.. Doesn't happen with discs or my other USB.. The USB is sandisk ultra backup

I meant the install works and the OS itself, but i have no key for it so i think this is not a hardware failure as 7 installs fine. (did it for testing does 7 has this problem too) Sure 7 is better, but right now i dont want to buy a new license for it.

You're not making sense to me, so maybe someone else will jump in and help you out. You installed it but have no key ? Doesn't make sense, and the OS works ? I dunno !

Try the disks in another computer, Vista disk could be bad or dirty.
