Looks good but consider this unless you don't need SLI and want a good OC:

P35-DS3x or P5K
E2180 easily OCed to 2.8-3Ghz and beats the X2 easily when both are OCed.

$500 budget build without an OS. easy!

The Budget Build: ~ $500 (Price as shipped $503.12)
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E2180 2.0GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5KPL-VM (Intel G31 chipset)
RAM: G.Skill 2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-12
Hard Drive: 250GB WD Sata2
Optical Drive: Lite-On SATA 20X burner w/ Nero
Case: Antec NSK4480B case w/ 380W PSU
OS: Windows XP Home (I don't much care for Vista- but you can sub Vista here if you want for $30 more because Home Basic is ripoff in every possible way)
Input Devices: MS keyboard and Mouse
Video: On the motherboard because this is a budget build.

Since you don't need Windows let kill that and save $90. That motherboard is overkill. Use the one I have suggested. The onboard video is going to be equal/better than what you picked so save yourself the $20.

Total price of the build: $413 without Windows. :)
