Hello,

All my new word documents ar now saved as Internet Explorer icons ( although when right clicking on the document icon it says its a word document and when I 'save as' it has a .doc extension. When I send one of these files by email it can not always be read ( though some can). I can not turn them into PDFs as it says that is either not a supported file type or it is damaged ( eg it was sent as an email attachment but wasn not decoded propery). I can though read and edit these word files if I open Word first then open them in Word software. But email recipients can not do this. I can sometimes view a file on my iphone that can not be read on a PC.
If I try and open an attached Word file in my email it does not open it. Sometimes if I download it I can open it in Word.

I hav Norton 360 security software and it does not seem to pick it up. I use Vista.

Do you know what is wrong and how I can fix it?
Thanks,
Georgina

The documents are probably being saved in DOCHTML file extension
Take a look at file type associations.
