coolermaster stacker 830 mobo tray+spacers problem

Just bought this beast of a case and the spacers for mounting the mobo to the tray don't seem to fit anywhich why I try to place them. The spacers only go in about a quarter way into the holes (not straight). I know that since the tray is aluminum that it might have warped during shipping or where it was in storage but would that have had any effect on the spacer-holes? I even ordered spacers and these new ones don't fit either.

Should I return the case? Or is there anyway I can modify the tray myself to make them fit?

Unfortunately it is a big, heavy case and it's going to be expensive to ship back for RMA but that's your best option.
