I just recently built my new computer. This is the card I have:

EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
Overclocked version at 670MHz

I first installed the drivers using the supplied disc and noticed the fans were running very fast and made enough noise to be very annoying. They ran like this at all times no matter what I was doing on the computer. I decided to install a newer driver that I found here: http://www.evga.com/8800driver/

After installing, the fans immediately slowed down and now hardly produce any noise. The GPU idles around 55 degrees C, about 10 degrees hotter than before. Is this a safe temperature? Should the fans automatically speed up when I am playing games?
