Hello guys, I am facing problems with my Abit IP35 Pro motherboard...It beeps continuously..sort of like a siren

On boot it reads checksum error and asks to press F1 to continue or Del to Enter Bios..the code on the mobo reads 7F but hangs after clicking F1

It cannot read the Hard drive though and only entered bios after I cleared the CMOS several times..I managed to stop the beeping only after disabling it from the BIOS..after which the code changed to FF which is fine..However if I enable the beep on error in the bios..the beeping starts again and the code reads 7 F and hangs

Please Help, Ive been sitting on it for 2 days with no luck,

Thanks

it was just a thought.

Your battery may be dead or dying and needs to be replaced. You may also try and reset the cmos...... jumper.........

A good suggestion... Ive had the battery for a year or so, it may need a change...it sucks that its giving problems only after a years use..will check wiring and battery...Do you think a bios upgrade may help?

Bios update....... ? for what.... ? if it wasn't broke don't fix it unless the new bios update has something you really need or to fix an on going problem with the board.

I've had the same battery last for years, and as a matter of fact, never had one go bad at all. Sounds odd but not impossible.

I would try swapping the PSU if you have one lying around (or borrow from a friend). I've got the same mobo and am currently running with only 1GB of RAM, 1 HDD, my 1950pro and my stock E6300. This since I started getting a lots of BIOS halts (first on my P965-mobo) and concluded that it was the mobo, after swapping to the IP35 Pro, problem persisted, seemed to be the RAM but with new BIOS the RAM was accepted but still loads of issues while running the computer.

Therefor I've concluded that the PSU is to blame in my system (a 350W Coolermaster) but you should also try using only one or two of your RAMs (you have four, right?) and switching places.

swifty_morgan, The Bios upgrade will be a last choice if everything fails...you're right no reason to do that at the moment...,

what I have done so far

1.Disable all boots except boot to DVD ROM
2.Went to windows setup and it detected my previous installation of windows XP,
3.I formated and installed a fresh copy,
4.I am able to boot from disk now, but I have to make sure that the DVD ROM is the first boot device..if not it hangs on the second screen after BIOS and hardware are detected...

(I ignore the "press any key to run cd" ) then it loads windows from the DISK....

its a bit of a run around..but the problem has not been solved...basically the beeping sound and hang at 7F CODE will continue if I enable beep on error in the BIOS....So I will check wiring next...

marten_larsson, I checked the power and all are getting the required.. I have a 560 w SILVERSTONE PSU....I am getting a 850w Silverstone Zeus though soon...I hope it will do the trick if all the methods fail,

Thanks for that update

I just checked the link,

Since I never removed any of the fans or wiring to them, it is unlikely a fan problem,

but after reading the forum error seems to be involved with the wiring somewhere, will check this tomorrow after done with my pile of work,

Did you try removing the heat sink and fan and re-applying arctic silver or what ever and re-seating. Thought I read somewhere about a heat issue...... ?

I have the same exact problem with the same exact motherboard. Have you found a fix?

something similar here too. the beeping might be a power issue cause in fiddling with my setup i forgot to plug in my gpu and i got a continuos beep. i messed with the cmos jumper and took out the battery and it booted right up again after showing a checksum error.

I have the same problem, tho I am running a water cooled setup so no cpu fan plugged in, i reset a bunch of times and it finally worked, but every now and then it hangs when i have to restart from windows update etc and ill have to restart a few times and then my time and date will be wrong so i was thinking its the battery, but this is very strange ive never had any problem like this b4 on any other boards.
